Russia 1492: The Year Our World Began

Russia 1492: The Year Our World Began

The world would end in 1492 - so the prophets, soothsayers and stargazers said. They were right. Their world did end. Ours began. Felipe Fernandez-Armesto traces key elements of the modern world back to that single, fateful year: the way power and wealth are distributed around the globe; the way major religions and civilisations divide the world. Events that began in 1492 even transformed the whole ecological system of the planet. Our individualism and the very sense we share of inhabiting one world, as partakers in a common humanity, took shape and became visible. In search of the origins of modernity, 1492 takes readers on a journey around the globe of the time, in the company of real-life travellers, drawing the together the threads that began to bind the planet.

Songs on Cooper’s more recent recordings have hinted at his change of heart. He sees his stage persona now as “the prophet of doom,” telling people: “‘Be careful! Satan is not a myth. Don’t sit around pretending like Satan is just a joke.’ I think my job is to warn about Satan.”

The Dark Side Of Relationships And How To Overcome

The Dark Side Of Relationships And How To Overcome

The Dark Side Of Relationships And How To Overcome

The Dark Side Of Relationships And How To Overcome

This is without a doubt the best synthesis of major pathways to wholeness which I have yet to read. Dr. Richo pulls together the shadow concepts of Jung, the ways of Buddha and Christ, Zen meditation practices, the "mindful awareness" of Thic Nat Hahn, Joseph Campbell and mythology, the works of Shakespeare andpoets, smatterings of Islam and Freud--all this and more. And out of this amalgam, he constructs practical guideposts meant to help the individual on his or her way to wholeness or individuation. Having read the book through, I am now ready to begin "the practices" suggested by the author throughout the book's pages. All I can say is "thank you!"

How To Have Real Joy And Eternal Satisfaction

Actually, the book was a real joy to read. On occasion, Charles Spurgeon speaks about the apathy of some of the church during his era, and we still have the same active apathetic element. So his comments are as relevant now as then. His perceptions about joy are much needed. Since the joy of the Lord is our strength, why do we think that we can be strong without it? Sometimes it requires an entire lifetime to learn that God's way is best.

Lucid Dreaming: Gateway to the Inner Self

Lucid Dreaming: Gateway to the Inner Self

Lucid Dreaming: Gateway to the Inner Self

This book is a must-read for anyone interested in learning more about lucid dreams - dreams in which the dreamer knows that s/he is dreaming. The author opens his heart and shares his extensive years of lucid dreaming experience with an engaging, friendly style that hooks you into his narrative.

What fascinated me most about the book was its scope; the potential of lucid dreaming is explored with a deft touch and sensitivity, and all sorts of 'big questions' are raised and examined.

Highly recommended!

Worthwhile Work : How To Motivate People In Any Organisation

With a new foreword by Ken Blanchard
An invaluable new strategy for creating enthusiastic employees, from the author of the bestselling The One Minute Manager.
Every day thousands of uninspired employees trudge to work – often dooming their companies to failure with their lack of enthusiasm.

Gung Ho! presents a simple system for inspiring employees. Overeating At Christmas Constipation Issues And Remedies

Overeating At Christmas Constipation Issues And Remedies

Overeating At Christmas Constipation Issues And Remedies

Overeating At Christmas Constipation Issues And Remedies

If you are suffering from chronic constipation, or have not passed bowels for two to three days, then try this combination recipe of prune juice and apple juice. Drink two to three glasses of prune juice first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. After half an hour, top this up with a glass of apple juice. This is generally enough to start bowel movement even in severe cases of constipation. Drink a glass of apple juice an hour after the first one to properly clean out your bowels and to get them functioning normally.
̢ۢ Mix half a glass of prune juice with half a glass of oat milk. Drinking this before you eat or drink anything else in the mornings will help you get rid of constipation for good.
Even having prune juice all by itself can treat constipation easily. Take a glass in the morning and one in the evening while you are suffering from constipation and reduce this intake to half a glass twice a day for maintaining good colon health and avoiding constipation permanently.

Andrew Wommack: Lessons From The Christmas Story

Andrew Wommack: Lessons From The Christmas Story

Andrew Wommack: Lessons From The Christmas Story

Christmas is an awesome time of the year.
I didn’t always think that way. Even before I received the baptism in the Holy Spirit, I got discontented with all the commercialism associated with Christmas. I remember as a fourteen- or fifteen-year-old teenager, I convinced my family to take all the money we would have spent on gifts for each other and to give that money to the missions program at church. That allowed our Christmas celebration to center on what was really important.
Then, when I had my miraculous encounter with the Lord on March 23, 1968, I fell in love with Him a thousand times more than I had ever experienced His love at Christmas. It was like every day was Christmas, many times over. Therefore, Christmas became just another day to me.
As I began to seek the Lord, I became aware of all the pagan practices incorporated into the Christmas season, and I became disillusioned with the whole thing. For the first sixteen years of my married life, we didn’t have a Christmas tree or decorate for Christmas. We would have a birthday cake for Jesus and give gifts to our boys, but we made it clear that they came from the Lord, through us, and not from some fat man in a red suit.

Mother Goose Club - Mother Goose As Nursery Rhymes

John Newbery was once believed to have published a compilation of English nursery rhymes entitled Mother Goose's Melody, or, Sonnets for the cradle[15] some time in the 1760s, but the first edition was probably published in 1780 or 1781 by Thomas Carnan, one of Newbery's successors. This edition was registered with the Stationers' Company in 1780. However, no copy has been traced, and the earliest surviving edition is dated 1784.[16] The name "Mother Goose" has been associated, in the English-speaking world, with children's poetry ever since.[17]
In 1837, John Bellenden Ker Gawler published a book (with a 2nd-volume sequel in 1840) deriving the origin of the Mother Goose rhymes from Flemish ('Low Dutch') puns.[18]
In music, Maurice Ravel wrote Ma mère l'oye, a suite for the piano, which he then orchestrated for a ballet. There is also a song called "Mother Goose" by progressive rock band Jethro Tull from their 1971 Aqualung album. The song seems to be unrelated to the figure of Mother Goose since she is only the first of many surreal images that the narrator encounters and describes through the lyrics.

Whats So Great About Failing Forward With John C Maxwell ?

Are some people born to achieve anything they want while others struggle? Call them lucky, blessed, or possessors of the Midas touch. What is the real reason for their success? Is it family background, wealth, greater opportunities, high morals, an easy childhood? New York Times best-selling author John C. Maxwell has the answer: The difference between average people and achieving people is their perception of and response to failure. Most people are never prepared to deal with failure. Maxwell says that if you are like him, coming out of school, you feared it, misunderstood it, and ran away from it. But Maxwell has learned to make failure his friend, and he can teach you to do the same. "I want to help you learn how to confidently look the prospect of failure in the eye and move forward anyway," says Maxwell. "Because in life, the question is not if you will have problems, but how you are going to deal with them. Stop failing backward and start failing forward!"

Captivating: A Guided Journal to Aid in Unveiling the Mystery of a Woman's Soul

Every little girl has dreams of being rescued by the hero, of being swept away into a great adventure, of being the beautiful princess. Sadly, when women grow up, they are taught to be tough, efficient, and independent. Many Christian women are tired, struggling under the weight of the pressure to be a "good servant," a nurturing caregiver, passionate lover, or capable home manager. What the Wild at Heart Field Manual did for men, the Captivating: A Guided Journal can do for women. By revealing the three distinctly female desires every woman shares, John and Stasi Eldredge invite participants to recover their feminine hearts, which may have suffered many wounds but were originally defined in the image of a passionate God.

Any book by Tom Holland is going to be an absorbing treat. He is only one of two writers (the other is Jenny Uglow), who's books I'll buy no matter the subject. Why? Because they both write so well. Holland has an amazing skill of writing with insight, compassion and whit. He can tell an extremely complex story like a very good novelist, holding everything together.

Develop Your Intuition And Then Listen To It

Develop Your Intuition And Then Listen To It

Develop Your Intuition And Then Listen To It

 By J. Lyons

I began reading this just as I was losing my position in a re-organization. At first I thought it was a little late, since I didn't 'survive' that position. But once I got into the book, it proved to be great timing. With this extended metaphor of white water kayaking, the authors found an effective way to communicate the turbulence of today's worklife: Don't try to look for a permanently safe place in the work world - that's a fool's errand. Rather, learn to ride through the turbulence, each rapid, by finding your own self-determined course.

The tendency of a lot of us is to be in fear of losing the job, or once the job is lost, to get depressed and be self-critical. This sucks the energy out of you that is needed to find your next move.

This book says, "Look you're not perfect, but it's not all about you. It's not all your fault." The external environment is a wild place so expect surprises - both pleasant and unpleasant. Don't fixate on what just happened in your worklife. Grab the learnings and keep going.

The book is a good mix of new stuff you haven't heard before and reminders of advice you've heard before, but need to hear again.

The Evil Misleading Star Wars Movie Franchise Deception Exposed

Star Wars is an American epic space opera franchise centered on a film series created by George Lucas. The film series, consisting of two trilogies (and an upcoming third), has spawned an extensive media franchise called the Expanded Universe including books, television series, computer and video games, and comic books. These supplements to the franchise resulted in significant development of the series' fictional universe, keeping the franchise active in the 16-year interim between the two film trilogies. The franchise depicts a galaxy described as far, far away in the distant past, and it commonly portrays Jedi as a representation of good, in conflict with the Sith, their evil counterpart. Their weapon of choice, the lightsaber, is commonly recognized in popular culture. The franchise's storylines contain many themes, with strong influences from philosophy and religion.

The First Heaven :- Archangels Michael, Gabriel And Lucifer

All round the table lifted their heads; Michael and Gabriel exchanged a grave look.  Lamaliel shook his head, 'His wrath will be unbridled.'
Issachar stroked his beard. 'His first action will be to investigate the constituents of Christos' blood.'
'We are well aware,' said Xacheriel, drumming his large fingers, rather too loudly, on the table next to Jether.
'Lucifer's evil genius is no match for the unfathomable wisdom of Yehova,' said Jether, closing the book of Eternal Law.
'His choice to consistently despise Yehovah's treaties with the Race of Men in aeons past will ultimately lead to his demise,' Gabriel said.
