Walid Shoebat (Arabic: وليد شعيبات‎) is a Palestinian American Christian who converted from Islam.^[1][2] Shoebat claimed to be a "Palestinian Liberation Organization terrorist" in a CNN television interview,^[2] but the information could not be verified by CNN when investigated. He is a speaker for hire about dangers of Islamic radicalism^[2] and also claims to be a strong supporter of the state of Israel.^[1] Born in the West Bank to an American mother, Shoebat also claimed to have firebombed an Israeli bank, although this claim could not be verified by investigative journalists.^[2]
He was interviewed as a terrorism expert on several television programs, including appearances on CNN and its sister network HLN in 2006 and 2007.^[2] The BBC, Fox News and CNN had presented Shoebat as a "terrorist turned peacemaker". 
In 2011, CNN investigative reporters found no evidence to support his claims of PLO affiliations or being an "ex-terrorist", which he cites as the grounds for his authority on "the mindset of a terrorist".
